Strange that RC took one month to comment on the ACCC speech.
The problem CTP faces is the
light regulation which enables cumulative tolls such as;
Carpentaria pipeline "light regulation" - until 2023??

The very good news from the ACCC's Rod Sims is this section under "Pipeline regulation"
"I
n these cases, and I think transmission pipeline sector is one such instance, we may need to seek alternative forms of regulation to address monopolistic pricing and rent transfers which contribute to inefficient economic outcomes".
That is code for "ACCC is going to break the pipeliner's grip on pricing"
An obvious target is the $1.56 on a 20 year old pipeline that is paid off. Imagine the effect on CTP of knocking $1 off the toll eastwards....
Any day now the ACCC is due, by Ministers order of 9/4/2015, to publish the results of their inquiry.
