What do you think of the future use of BIM (building information modeling) and IOT into the future.

I think Xped are on the right path with their collaboration in energy monitoring. But i see it as being much more than just a power monitoring tool.

Implementation with BIM would mean you could get real time data on your building or infrastructure for maintenance purposes I.e. emergency lighting, temperature control, maintenance issues. (Extrapolate this out to large scale infrastructure, street lights, traffic lights communication and service junctions).

Given we spend much more money on the maintenance and operation of our buildings than we do on the initial construction, having a system that documents the function of the existing tech and can adapt to accommodate new pieces of equipment is pretty much the perfect tool for operational efficiency and maintenance.

It would be great to get your technical understanding of barriers and impediment to this.
