Yes, that is exactly how i explain the 50c drop. For as I posted first thing this morning -
"There are a lot of high expectations around for the BHP results, $13bio plus profit, $3bio plus capital management return.
Let's hope they can deliver the above plus a bit more.
Market is so fickle these days that any company that delivers "just" expectations gets belted.
aka "Buy the rumour - sell the fact"??

and as Scottaru quite accurately added to my post -
"I've said it before, the generosity of any special dividend/capital management will decide things on the day... excellent results combined with stingy handouts to shareholders will be punished..."

The $3bio capital return was right on the lower end of market expectations
