A bit of fun trivia here: eighteen institutions participated.

Looks like even the SGX plays on a Chinese superstition. Then I wondered why it did not launch on the 18th as well. Doubly auspicious and all that. Maybe 18 + 4 + 2016 = 22 = 4, which is a number they might prefer to avoid. Hmm...

P.S.: Skeptics might remember that the Beijing summer Olympics was opened on 8th August 2008 = triple auspicious. Then there is 8 + 8 + 2008 = 26 = 8 = quadruply auspicious.

Another fun trivia is speculating on an unusually high volume of SGX trade on an auspicious date. Your guess is as good as mine. R.
