UBS "research" was spreading the rumour about the $300m impairment. From the horses mouth Westpac says $25m. uBS also have a large number of shares including a large number they have lent out for short selling. Last notice they had about 5% and there are 7% short which may belong to them (very likely). Here's a conspiracy theory for you, are UBS accumulating while leaking negative stories? Buying shares then lending them out for short selling keeping their holding at or below 5%.....mmmmmmm
