By all reports, Shanghai Pengxin-and therefore ARC-are paying a A$100m more than 2nd highest bidder!
If so, this means that ARC is over-paying by A$20m!
And this does not include a further A$43m in WC!
Q: is Kidman deal worth it?
Ans: IMO, NO.
Why? Each Kidman station was strategically located and bought to a Sidney Kidman master-plan; namely droving cattle from one station to the next station for water and feed, each one being closer and closer to a major market and port.
In 2016 this strategic logic no longer applies!
Why? Because live cattle are now being exported by Air to China. Each station can thus be independent, not inter-dependent.
In short, IMO Shanghai and thus ARC have bought an out-dated business model and paid a fortune to hoof.
In agri-terms, they will both Rue the day...
