Traffic lights
Red means stop. Wait behind the stop line.
Do not go through the intersection.
Yellow (amber) means stop. You can enter the intersection if you are so close that sudden braking might cause a crash.
Green means proceed through the intersection carefully.
This is the nsw road rules for traffic lights. Not much about slowing down for a green light.
Glad to hear you feel my driving is incompetent, and perhaps it would be on dead flat and straight roads.... but that is rarely the case in Sydney, not sure about other places. Actually, I am sure.
As for driving with cruise control on, not the safest idea when driving in the city, you need to be in control of the car and watching the road and all around you at all times. Not having 100% control is not a good idea.
