This just appeared on the newswires. Probably should have also been released to the ASX on Friday. Note that the Italians (speaking English as a second language) are impressed with Adacel's voice recognition technology. This recent Italian success augurs well for the larger Air Service Australia and FAA contracts.
Adacel Delivers 26 MiniMax Classroom Tower Simulators to Italian Aviation Authority: New additions Installed at main facility in Forli, Italy

Orlando, Florida, (August 24, 2006) – Adacel, an industry leader in software integration, simulation development, and speech recognition technology, announced today that the Italian air traffic authority Ente Nazionale de Assistenza Al Volo (ENAV) has installed 26 new Adacel MiniMax Air Traffic Control (ATC) Classroom tower simulators at their state-of-the-art training facility in Forli, Italy.
With this addition to the 6 previously installed full-sized MaxSim 270 simulators, there now are a total of 32 Adacel ATC tower simulation systems in use by ENAV. This makes the ENAV Forli center the largest civilian ATC simulation and training facility in the world. “We sincerely value the relationship with ENAV and are extremely pleased they have sought to install additional Adacel simulation tools at their training facility” said Fred Sheldon, Adacel’s CEO for North America. “The MiniMax is a perfect compliment to the industry leading MaxSim simulator, and will allow ENAV to implement a broader spectrum of simulation and training capabilities.”
This latest facility upgrade also includes Adacel’s enhanced ATC speech recognition system. Adacel speech recognition software demonstrated a greater than 95 percent recognition rate during site acceptance testing by Italian air traffic controllers utilizing English as a second language.
Adacel’s speech recognition system is now installed and operational on all of the Forli MaxSim and MiniMax simulators. This robust speech recognition capability enables a student to run training exercises independently, without the need to employ traditional pseudo pilots. With this new capability ENAV will be able to maximize available training positions and efficiently manage staff requirements and costs.
Adacel works closely with the ENAV authorities as they plan and implement enhanced training solutions to create the premier ATC training facility in Europe.
About the Adacel MiniMax Simulator
The Adacel MiniMax tower is an affordable, smaller footprint version of Adacel’s MaxSim system aimed specifically at the classroom setting. It comes with an “out-the-window” 3D visual channel that utilizes the same visual databases employed in the full-sized MaxSim, thereby improving training efficiency for Adacel customers. The MiniMax also capitalizes on other MaxSim core capabilities and is fully compatible with scenarios designed for its parent system. This makes the MiniMax an ideal complement to MaxSim, enabling students to receive more hands-on classroom instruction and practice prior participating in exercises and testing with the full-sized MaxSim simulators.
