"The chief defence psychiatrist, Paul Mullen, has revealed that the trigger point for the killings was the massacre a month earlier of 16 schoolchildren in the Scottish township of Dunblane. Professor Mullen, the chief of forensic psychiatry at Monash University, says Bryant was inspired by the killings. "He followed Dunblane. His planning started with Dunblane. Before that he was thinking about suicide but Dunblane and the early portrayal of the killer, Thomas Hamilton, changed everything."
