Well neither Ben or Ryan from that list are in sales. Customer success is equivalent to after sales support and the head of product is the person that determines the direction the company goes in with new services and packages. Their engineering and product teams may be great, but all that matters in the companies current situation is achieving incredible sales growth over the next 6 months, and the first step is getting the right talent on board.

For instance, the director of sales has been there for nearly 3 years but literally has no sales experience before that. With that much time learning the product I'm sure he's fantastic at selling it, but his history doesn't exactly instill confidence when his real job is to manage a sales team and scale it effectively. Those are things he's literally never done before.

Would you want your head of sales reading articles online to figure out the best way to run and scale a team, or to have a track record of success at other companies?

Here are your actual sales people:

John and Blake are two guys I could definitely get behind, but the rest have little or no experience, while being paid like they have 2-3 years. There is literally 5 years total of closing experience across 7 new hires. Additionally, some of those years came from people at Yelp, which is just a high pressure sales environment that fails to really teach anyone anything other than cold calling (which I admit, Shareroot will need plenty of.) Yelp essentially gives anyone and everyone their first sales job and then boots them out the door after 8-12 months. They had over 80% turnover on their sales team last year alone. Again this is well known, but don't take my word for it:

Oh and I'm just a guy who had an interest in this company because I was thinking about working there, and I have a few friends who have been hired there in the past 2 months. However, I like to research a company before taking a job, and this one has red flags all over the place. I will eagerly await news of my friends closing their first deals at Shareroot, or not.
