One of China's biggest dairy farming companies has agreed to buy a majority share of Korumburra-based "Burra Foods", in a deal that will give the Victorian dairy processor strong access to the surging Chinese market and new capital.
The Chinese company Inner Mongolia Fuyuan Farming will buy 79 per cent of Burra Foods under the deal, which is subject to Foreign Investment Review Board approval.
Speaking to The Age from Hong Kong the founder of Burra Foods, Grant Crothers, said the Australian dairy industry had "enormous cred" in China.
The recently completed free trade agreement between the two nations was "pivotal" to securing the deal, he said.
