Well that's conflating the issues, because asylum seekers make only a very small proportion of total immigration in this country.

But what we have is an international crisis of refugees the most extreme since WW2, also resulting from war including the war in Syria and Aftghanistan.

Compared to us, the Scandinavian nations take on more refugees.

But that leads to the next emotional trigger that posters in here like to press: that there are now assimilation problems in those nations. Yes, there are. But we are talking about refugees which is a % of total intake. And Australia doesn't use the same model, we are much more successful with integration.

Oversimplifications are dangerous. Clear thinking takes effort. We need to revise our assumptions. This is hard work but worth it if we are going to have meaningful discussions and not just fear mongering.

Then please tell me why Aust should take more refugees when the Arab Muslim countries are not taking any.
