The article does not seem to indicate whether coal plants are being converted to run on gas. Because of the much lower emissions, this could be used to meet climate targets while preserving much of the existing investment in coal plants.
The greens see such a process as pointless as any emissions are bad emissions in their book. However, in terms of getting quick emission reductions LNG can play a part. The question is, is that actually happening?
