I was a guest speaker and a participant in the shiftworkers conference in 1978....we were a bit too advanced for the mentality of the time.
When you have some unions involved they will cater to the highest possible denominator....ie more numerous numbers in dayshift staff will outvote shiftworkers to the shiftworkers detriment...ie a 5% wage increase if you decrease saturday rates from 50% to 30% etc etc...easy 5% to those who do nothing to earn it...a loss in pay to those that do...a win win for the employer.
