Correct. If you sell in less than one year it will be taxed at your marginal tax rate (i.e. whatever income bracket you're in). If you sell after a year, 50% will essentially go straight into your pocket and the remaining 50% will then be taxed at your marginal rate. Big difference if you do the sums.
