Who else would take on the job?

Well, the federal electorate where I live in South australia has been in Liberal hands since 1949.
The incumbent announced his retirement while Abbott was still PM.
He was in danger of losing his seat at the time, due to the Xenophon factor and Jap subs but if he'd waited till Turnbull took over he may have continued on.
He kept a very low profile, rarely making the news over his 20 year tenure.
I called him the invisible man.

Now the Liberals have selected a lady to replace him who presumably wants to be a polly.
She went from uni, to working as a staffer, to working for Rupert Murdoch writing sheet columns in the local paper.
She wrote stories like complaining about Grey Nomads driving on the highways, towing their caravans at below the speed limit. Holding her up as she hurried to her destination.

She probably wants to be a career polly. She talks like a polly.
