Graphite is the anode in a Lithium Ion battery i believe.
The lithium-ion cell negative electrode is composed of a lithium intercalation compound coated
in a thin layer onto a metal current collector. The most common anode material is some form of
carbon, usually graphite, in powder form, combined with binder material.
