gb - thank you. You gave a one line reference to WIKI - I am more than prepared to discuss the entirety of the history of US Public Finance (utterly boring for most), and made a start on it, and implications for the present day, the present US Election Cycle - I don't see how it's incoherent in any way at all. While history doesn't repeat (it is human nature that repeats - and yes, I know M. Twain said sometimes it rhymes - much loved by TA's), much can still learned from it, including the founding of the Current Fed after the Panic of 1907 with none other than JP Morgan himself as national savior (image below, signing of the Act, 1913).. Perhaps you have little interest in history (like Henry Ford "History is Bunk").

Yes I realize it's a bit Off Topic, but folks here always discussing the Fed here, so not really Off Topic, and yes, it's late Sat night, hence my light hearted video about a Party I wish I'd been invited to. I guess I missed your SELL rec on the stocks I mentioned above...my bad (pass), as they say in basketball (I hate that term). I mistakenly thought you might have been in them for the long(er) term.
But I read Joe's response, and its seems to be not without merit.
    Finally, as for history:
"Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past. The tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living." Karl Marx, 1852
Never was a truer word spoken.
Signing of the Fed Reserve Act (Woodrow Wilson, once of the worst Presidents in US history):
