As some good news on a bloodbath day - Namibia was rated 8th in the world in the Chubb Group's 'World Risk Survey 2006' using criteria such as sovereign risk, land access, green tape, land claims, red tape, social risk, infrastructure, civil unrest, natural disasters and labour relations. The report is in the Sept 2006 ResourceStocks magazine.
It came after (first onwards):
Canada (1st safest)
Finland
Sweden
Australia (4th)
U.S.A.
Chile
Botswana
Namibia
Tanzania
Ghana
Brazil
Thailand
China (13th)
and so on.
As examples of specific positions:
South Africa 19th
India 20th
Russia 22nd
Venezuala 28th
Papua New Guinea 31st
highest risk nation listed was Angola at 33rd.
Just for the doomsdayers interest (ie - the ones that claim that Namibia is a HIGH risk).
