Whether you have 1/4 share in a pie or 2/8 you still have the same amount of that pie.

Can I just say that the number of shares on market are not relevant so much as to say they just form a part of the market cap.

The benefit for now of having a larger amount on market is that shares are more accessible to smaller holders which can attract short sellers.

Benefit is that short sellers drive volume which is picked up on more radars depending of course if they look for volume or by percentage of shares on market.
