Criminal records may be requested by a 'prospective employer' if it is relevant.
In putting your name forward for election as a director of a public company, your record would only be relevant if you had committed a Corporations Act administered crime.
Just my opinion!
Maybe the person putting his name forward should have asked those already elected for their records so as he could know who he is hoping to work with, if elected.
