I actually see strong coverage of the Arctic there. Sure, the very northern 10-20 degrees is sparse, but the rim is well represented. I've sketched the approximate position of the Arctic circle below (I'm a few degrees too far south, but pretty close for sketching on my phone). Northern Alaska, northern Canada, and particularly Scandinavia and Russia/Mongolia show easily enough coverage to give a pretty darn clear picture. Unless, of course, you believe that all these sites are cherry-picked and everything outside of them is actually abnormally cold.
