My initial post was in response to you comment "If people want FTTP they can pay themselves for the final leg from the node to their premises.".
I commented that they do pay for it in their service costs (it is not free), and provided the cost of the Telstra plans to show that the consumer pay far more than the connection costs.
(Not reliant on any specific version of NBN.)
After that the time frame was discussed which I referred to the time frame between the real NBN and Turnbull's current NBN.

"....As I have posted the real NBN began being ramped up in 2012 (4 years ago), and the time frame for completion (2021) was within about a year of Turnbull's version. (This is clearly what was being discussed.)...Glug"
"....Hard to discuss the recent announcement when there are no details and it is just a Shorten fairy tale while Labor are not in government....Glug"
So I haven't discussed it, nor defended it.
