Hi OOO, You too are a breath of fresh air, mate!
Just for fun I have made some quick comparison between the SNE characteristics, as currently known, and the giant Ekofisk field in the North Sea, discovered by Phillips Petroleum in the 1960s. The basic stats are as follows:
"Soon after returning to the site in the Spring of 1970, Phillips confirmed that the Ekofisk field contained a giant oil deposit, which measured eight miles by four miles and consisted of a 690-foot thick, porous pay zone of carbonate rock. Initial reserve estimates were in the 7 billion barrel range, making Ekofisk the largest oil field ever discovered in Western Europe."
The porosty is 30 - 40% and oil is 38 API. The field started producing oil in 1970 and is xpected to continue until abt 2050. Total revenue to date in 2016 dollars about $US 300 billion. Initial flow through 34" pipeline to the UK about 300,000 bopd, max flow rate per well about 10,000 bopd.
Now compre these numbers to the SNE field, as we know it today and see what kind of numbers you can come up with![]()
(By the way, I worked on the Ekofisk project from 1974 onwards.)
Cheers JS
