So, I rang the AEC.

J. "How do I vote for the senate above the line?"

AEC. "You need to put the numbers 1 to 6 in boxes"

J. "I need to put?"

AEC "Yes, that's right".

J. "But I don't need to put numbers one to six, do I? I could just put 1"

AEC. "Well, yes, you could."

J. "So why did you tell me to put 1 to 6?"

AEC. "Because that's what we've been told to tell people."

J. "You've been told to lie to us?"

AEC "No, I haven't lied to you!"

J. "Yes you have. You said I needed to put 1 to 6 in the boxes. I don't even have to put a 1, a cross or a tick will suffice."

You're all being taken for a ride. Even the AEC is lying to you now. I wonder how many people trying for an informal vote will mistakenly make a formal one?
