Hingdog, I immediately pondered just who exactly decides whose vote counts towards the election of a senator now that it is going to be crucial to decide whether one's vote is exhausted or it counted toward the election of a candidate?

    Let me give an example:
Let me suppose for example that you and I both choose the Liberal/National ticket as our first choice in Victoria but you number at least 6 boxes above the line and I hastily only put a No. 1 next to the Coalition party box of candidates.

Will my non-preferenced vote count ahead of your vote to get one of six coalition senators elected rather than it being exhausted and maybe instead it is your multi-preferenced selective vote that provides a vote for another Party's candidate after the seventh Coalition candidate is eliminated and his/her half a quota is passed on to let's say the Family First party which then gives him/her a Senate Seat?
