Again, it doesn't need to beat anybody else when you're the only game in town... So whether or not it "works better than market comparably peers" is irrelevant. Sda can and will switch off Skype. Am I making sense?
And given companies pay the telecommunication costs of their employees as part of a basic operating costs, the users of the product aren't going to care either, thus whether or not it "work to a level that people will pay for it, to cover all the costs involved" is academic. I would encourage you to continue to use the app and maintain an open mind about whether it "works reliably". Or not - I obviously don't care.. But my view is that it does and is good enough.
You should try making low bandwidth calls and testing your thesis, but I think high bandwidth setting was installed because they found some of their market were more quality sensitive than bandwidth and we're making them down on account of it. That won't be the case with satellite... Low bandwidth all the way. And if you've ever made satellite calls or worked remote, you'll know what I mean.
