knowledge and insider trading - where's the line?, page-17

    Gday CromagnonMan and everyone else,

Mate, I used to work for the Corporate Affirs Commission of NSW in the 80's, and it gave me pride to be honest and committed to trying to weed out opportunists and make a level playing field.

However, a lot has changed since the 80's - the NSW CAC (which was under the NSW Attorney General) is now absorbed into the ASIC (federal) is a good example.

And other things haven't changed, like my credability and hope that one day everyone will be honest and sincere (and pigs will fly).

I prompted this thread because I had an issue within my conscience knowing information (and telling a mate of my research), and then thinking maybe I had done something wrong by telling him only, and not the general public.

Thanx again for your opinions - I suspect the lines between knowledge, intelligence and disclosure will be as blurred as the line between truth, lies, and "I don't recall".
