You are quoting very early concept articles. I would agree with you if it changed direction so much it would no longer track a person, but you are reaching with most of what you say.

I agree the price is a lot higher and maybe they didn't fully understand manufacturing costs or perhaps they understand the market and were aligning it with what else is out there.

With everything you need to consider both sides, technically the only thing I can recall that was actually promised which may not be delivered was collision detection which appeared on a presentation and was taken off a more recent one.

The stuff you mention about action sports is clutching at straws at best.
