Let me use this example... If a child was shown a video of a blue balloon and when asked to identify the color of the balloon, responds with a correct answer. Is she answering/processing in real time? And if so is this no different to weather he/she was presented with a physical balloon for the same identification? How is running the same 72 second video feed through the system any different to plugging the chip into the bridges camera? Perhaps the physical challenge of having the brainchip integrated into the bridge was the reason they chose to contduct the exercise in the lab.
