Do you think it is disgusting because you believe that it shows the UN as providing tacit support of the Saudi government's human rights record? In some ways it may end up being pretty confronting for the Saudi ambassador to be presiding over all these discussions of human rights atrocities in other countries all the while aware of the fact that the same is going on in his kingdom. Don't get me wrong here, I am entirely sympathetic with you point of view, but there is also an argument that the UN could never hope to influence the domestic policies of nations by excluding them. While I'm pretty sure that the Saudi ambassador got the chair through shady back room voting deals with the UK rather than some long-game plan to influence the house of Saud, but nonetheless, it is a complex and nuanced discussion (unlike most of what goes on here in HC-Pol).

Ok let's not exclude them. But on no account associate them with HUMAN RIGHTS imo. There must be other panels they could sit on, surely.
