Instead of removing the posts from view maybe they should fix the algorithm that places posts in the Top 5 and instead of having it as highest thumbs ups in the last 24 hours, try having it as posts which have received the most recent 20 thumbs ups. This would keep the list changing more frequently and allow forums with fewer readership a chance rather than completely removing high quality posts.
