I too have just returned from Indonesia having just visited Bali.
Several times before, I have started threads on this subject as I believe large archipelagos such as Indonesia, Maldives, Philippines, Carribean, etc would be ideal locations for the types of microgrids CWE/EMC will be demonstrating at Garden Island and Mauritius.
I had a chance to see wave activity many times during my visit to Bali. The southern facing beaches and reefs seem to always have at least some waves, even at this time of year when conditions are mostly benign. During the wet season (our summer), storms and cyclones generate much more wave energy.
Granted, the wave energy in this part of the Indian Ocean will not be as good as in South Western Australia and the islands off South Africa but at least there is some (and at times a lot) of wave activity.
If Ceto 6 can deliver on the promise of much better wave energy extraction capability, then these locations might come into focus. Combined with solar and wind, around the clock energy production would certainly be possible. I would also think that agriculture could provide an excellent source of fuel for biofuel power generation (such as is being done in Fiji).
With a population of over 200 million, there certainly is a demand for both energy and clean freshwater in that part of the world.
A delegation from Indonesia, visited Fremantle about five or six years ago, so they know about CWE. I would say, they are waiting, (like the rest of the world) for CWE to demonstrate a commercially viable model that they could use.
