I suggest that this cannot be regarded as anything other than a bit of electioneering. The Northern Territory legislative assembly goes to the polls in about 6 weeks. Our Chief Minister is just looking for some headlines.
There is no way that his statement: "The Territory’s onshore gas industry, if developed, is estimated to be worth as much as $22.4 billion between 2020 and 2040" can be regarded as anything other than blue sky based on educated guess work.
Nothing approaching that level of discovered resources has been established!
