Sonia was channelling a reasonably widespread concern when she made those comments.
She didn't say anything gross regarding Muslims already in Australia ... there was no call to deport or otherwise restrict. Implicit with that non action would likely be that she acknowledges the majority of Muslims do not condone terrorism.
However calling time for now on Muslim immigration (apparently like Japan has done for years now) should be seen in the context of a suggested means to avoid becoming a France or Germany or Sweden within the next 3 to 5 decades. The reality is that the disaffected of no other religion on earth in modern times are murdering and maiming as many as those of Islam.
I do fight internally with my thoughts on Islam and offering tacit support for comments like Sonia's. I truly love a multicultural Australia and 10-20 years ago as my children were benefiting from a multicultural schooling I couldn't have been happier. As Mogga said, all other ethnicities of all other religions integrate and embrace Australia and become Australia.
