The sale of angolan diamonds on international markets have brought in revenue of 80,5 million USD during the month of June at an average price of 105 US dollars per carat, according to a note released by the Ministry of Geology and Mining.

The document states that Angola produced over 760 thousand carats of diamonds during the month of June, an increase of 2,28% compared to the previous month of May.
“The increase in sales regarding the sale of diamonds is related to the high quality of carats from the various different projects, namely in Lulo, Somiluana, Camutué and Luó” – refers the note from the Ministry of Geology and Mining.
The commercialisation of diamonds produced in Angola has seen the state coffers benefit from an increase of over five percent in comparison with the previous month of May.
In comparison to the previous year, Angola produced for the month of June 2015 a total of 748 thousand carats, that brought in revenue of 92,1 million US dollars at an average price of 124 USD per carat.
The note released by Endiama (National Mining Company of Angola), states that the production of precious stones in Angola should double by 2018, with the initiation of mining exploration in Luaxe, considered to be “the largest kimberlite” discovered in Angola.
The consortium composed of Endiama and Alrosa have announced an investment of over one billion US dollars in the Luaxe Mine, with reserves estimated to be in the region of 350 million carats, forecasting a level of production close to ten million carats per year.
