Here's my view on how Australia MUST act now to change the way immigration and multiculturalism is going.
All immigrants must be tested for English and must be forced to learn it if they want to stay.
The effects of not doing this is that I still see Greek, Italian, Asian and Lebanese elderly who don't speak a word of English after 50-60 years of being here!
All government communications should be in English and English alone.
No signs, brochures, information in Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic etc in any government offices or Centrelink.
If you want our money, learn the language!
Shops should not be permitted to have foreign language signs on their exteriors and English signage must be present inside in addition to any foreign languages.
Language is the primary integrating force in a nation. Allowing people to continue living as complete foreigners in Australia is counterproductive to this aim. Have a second or third language, but learn or know English and use it is my view.
