I have been following CNX for quite a few years now but I am no expert on UCG.
I do know CNX has proved their method of underground coal gasification caused no ground water contamination or contamination of soil.
Linc Energy has been accused of causing increased gas levels in soil surrounding their site but this accusation has yet to be proved. Is the court case this year? I will be following it closely.
Carbon Energy has proven over 10 years that their method of UCG is safe and yet the Queensland government has seen fit to place a blanket ban on all UCG operations.
In my opinion CNX has been led down the garden path in the belief that if they could prove their method of UCG was safe they would be able to proceed to commercial operations in Queensland. They have spent 150 million in their trial UCG plant and passed all tests set by the government.
Is there a case for CNX is ask for compensation from the government?
Any legal minds on this forum with information?
