Disgraced stockbroker Rene Rivkin collapsed on Sunday morning as his Sydney jail cell was being searched for a mobile phone, authorities say.
Commander of security investigations at Silverwater Jail, Don Rodgers, said authorities had received reports that a mobile phone was located somewhere within the prison where Mr Rivkin was serving the first of nine months of weekend detention for insider trading.
"The officer spoke to Mr Rivkin, Mr Rivkin then fell off his chair onto the floor and medical attention was sought immediately," Mr Rodgers said.
A nurse was on the scene within 20 seconds and paramedics shortly after, Commander Rodgers told reporters.
Rivkin was taken to Auburn Hospital for treatment and will be released from the hospital without returning to the jail. What a COWARD!!! first day of 9 months of weekend detention? What's that enyway? Spoiled $astard, not a man.
