How about this instead of welching:
Turnbull was clearly outvoted at the Cabinet meeting to discuss KRudd to UN and so the MT led gov't decided then and there to let this KRudd-to-UN issue 'stew for a coupla days' so it is not quite so bleeding obvious MT and his deputy JB were outvoted by such a clear margin, prob'ly 1:4 or 1:5 against KRudd getting the nomination.
