Former Hawke government foreign minister Gareth Evans was scathing, declaring that the decision did Mr Turnbull no credit.
"Kevin Rudd's international standing is very high. He is regarded as immensely competent and credible, and – though facing a number of obvious obstacles (including I think a likely Russian veto) – was manifestly seen as a serious candidate for the UNSG position," he said.
well, krudd did fool the locals in 2007. indeed, the normally political savvy, watso voted for krudd in that year
and what did turnbull tell krudd???
According to a friend the controversial former prime minister spoke to later, Turnbull’s words to him when they finally made telephone contact were: “In my judgment you have neither the interpersonal skills or the temperament to be a UN secretary-general.”

it seems that the public krudd, is totally different to the private krudd - and if the quoted words from turnbull are correct, then that is a correct summation of krudd - after all, his own colleagues were totally disparaging about krudd
