Why would it matter?
There is x amount of gold in the ground whether it is nuggets or smeared around the place (of which this area has both).
Answer me this: if your dog, Rover, decided to lay a little nugget in your home, would you prefer it to be intact, or smeared around the place. Which would make extraction easier?
