I am not entirely sure 'drugs' and short term trading mix; I have certainly had quite variable experiences with medical stocks.
QRX was a memorable roller coaster. I traded it a few times, and came out on top overall, but it has made me very sceptical about the real prospects of such stocks.
PAB was a disappointment.
I hold AVH and like the story, but seems more like a patient investment than a short term trade.
I also hold MDR, but that too feels more like an investment.
On the ageing population point I keep the IXJ Global Healthcare ETF in my SMSF.
In short, I have as much confidence in my judgement short term trading medical stocks as I do in the statement 'health insurance is value for money'.
