    The following is a link to some GE sponsored content in the 6/7/16 edition of Imaging Technology News: http://www.itnonline.com/content/ultrasound-probe-disinfection.

    It's a case study on what motivated St Luke's University Hospital and Health Network in Pennsylvania and Froedtert Health and Medical College in Wisconsin to fully replace their manual soak systems with the trophon EPR system for disinfecting ultrasound probes.

    While the article is sponsored by GE, it is nevertheless interesting in so far as:

    1) it reinforces just how highly committed GE remains to marketing the trophon system in the USA and Canada;
    2) it quotes key St Lukes and Froedtert personnel on how important Joint Commission audits of their respective hospital networks were in emphasising shortcomings in pre-existing disinfection practices with ultrasound equipment, and in motivating them to evaluate automated high level disinfection systems;
    3) it quotes key personnel at St Lukes about the components of the cost/benefit analysis that was used to demonstrate the economic as well as the patient safety benefits that would accrue from replacing manual soak systems with the trophon high level disinfection system.

    Worth a quick read in my view.
