Normally I would totally agree with you're comments.
However consider the following Syntonic only have around 2,000 shareholder accounts.
The product is about sponsored data, so you have to have reward offers in the first place to attract people to download the app. They've only just started doing this after testing it via AT&T only in the USA.
It's being rolled out slowly, country by country.
It's now available in Malaysia & Indonesia (the later for maybe 10 days, the other as a sort of pilot for the last few weeks), only on some Telco carrier's (we know its 5 in Malaysia but have no idea how many or which ones in Indonesia).
Indonesia is the 6th biggest market population wise & in no time at all with no promotion of note, its now ranked 47th in the Lifestyle apps section. Indonesia is meant to have around 70M downloads a day.
You can't get that ranking in such a big country without there being considerable downloads taking place daily (certainly in the thousands).
I doubt many of the shareholders or there friends/relatives live in either Indonesia or Malaysia.
Once the product is downloaded, it starts to generate revenue for Syntonics, through the users data usage and various other revenue streams.
Come back in a few days when the Pokemon Go promotion is launched in Indonesia & Malaysia & see the download numbers then !!
