I'd have to say, though, that over many years punting the market, Perth stocks have cost me plenty.
It would be interesting to do a survey on $100,000 put into a basket of Perth-domiciled stocks fifty years ago versus $100,000 into a basket of stocks based in Melbourne or Sydney. Wesfarmers a star, Fortescue good if you bought at the right time, but a plethora of high-tech rubbish, biotech garbage and mining detritus channelling cash from hopeful investors into the pockets of spivs in Peppermint Grove.
