I haven't watched the video yet but the article is referring to a changed design for the anode using Lithium metal to replace graphite. Bad news for graphite if/when it becomes a viable technology. So far as I can see it is not suggesting any change to the cathode which is where Lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide are currently used.
