Here's what they say about my breed.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is important for the Papillon. The Papillon has a small jaw bone with small teeth and
root structure. Loss of teeth occurs most frequently from gingivitis, inflammation of the gums with subsequent
loosening of the tooth in the gums and jaw bone. Toy dogs such as Papillons with small jaw bones lose teeth faster
than larger breed dogs from gingivitis. Brushing the teeth regularly along with scaling teeth of tarter buildup will help
prevent gingivitis and tooth loss in the Papillon. Professional dental care is needed on a regular basis for many
Papillons to prevent loss of dentition. Providing appropriate dog chew items can assist in reduction of tartar.
There is also evidence that an unhealthy, infected mouth can lead to other health problems in the Papillon.
