    Alan,

    to expand a little further , once you have those predominatly north south cracks, you also need some heat to get the fluids juiced up and leach out some minerals with them. The older the rocks, the better the concentrate of juice-has more time to 'ferment'!

    Those fluids ooze their way into these cracks, cool , and form ore bodies.

    The heat in the kitchen is invariably some granite intrusion that has made its way up from the bowels of the earth at super hot temperatures. Orebodies tend to occur within 5kms of granite (the granite does not have to be at surface-it can be at depth never having made its escape!).

    There you go, look for big north south structures in old rocks near granite. Simple isn't it!LOL

    Yes, all of the above is very much a simplification.
