Hi upmarket,
Glad you're going up there because Iceland is said to be spectacular due its volcanism.
It should give you some insight into Arctic conditions.
However Reykjavic is still a good 15 deg south of the latitude of the mine, your not going in the teeth of winter and I suspect more likely to be reclining in heated hotels (with thermal baths) than looking to break competent rock.
